Dougnut sale

We have kicked off the first fundraiser for the end of the year trip. Doughnuts are now on sale. The ending date for this is November 13. That way we can get the final totals for the first deposit. The doughnuts will be ready for delivery on either Nov. 19 or 20. That date will be verified closer to time. To make the first $100 deposit you need to sell approximately 34 boxes. Get out and work hard. Put all money in an envelope with your name on it and give it to Mr. Garner.

2008-2009 Drum Major Results!

Congratulations Olivia Wilson!

And Congratulations Laken Childers!

Our Drum Major for 2008-2009 is Olivia Wilson. Our Assistant Drum Major for 2008-2009 is Laken Childers.

Thanks to all candidates who tried out! Everyone did a great job, and the judge had a very difficult decision to make. Comment sheets will be available in Mrs. Mixon's office Monday if you would like to see them. Other leadership positions are available and you have all filled leadership roles this year. Remember, leadership and title don't always coincide; you can be a strong leader without the title. Each of you is an asset to our organization, and I look forward to working with all of you in the various leadership capacities next year.

*2008-2009 Captains

I would like to thank our sponsors and the 2007-2008 Senior members of the Key Dancers for making tryouts a huge success. Particular thanks goes to 2007-2008 captains Morgan Lawler and Ashlyn Vinson for choreographing the tryout routine.

All of the candidates worked hard and did a wonderful job. Many of you had little experience and made incredible progress as the week progressed. If you did not make it, don't be discouraged! You're still eligible for participation in Color Guard based on your wonderful performance during Flag and Marching Basics week, and participation in a group that will require precision and counting will help better prepare you for next year's tryouts!

High School Band Advertisements

We have added a new "Advertisements" block to the AggieBands.com website. These ads, along with the GoodSearch fundraiser, will help raise funds for the website and the Aggie Bands in general. Please continue to visit this website and support the Aggie Bands by searching with GoodSearch and clicking on ads that interest you. Again, don't click ads just to try and raise money for the Band...this is against Google's Terms of Service and we could be prevented from showing advertising content through Google if they detect such activity.

I would like to thank our instructor and the 2007-2008 Senior members of the Color Guard for making tryouts a huge success. All of the candidates worked hard and did a wonderful job. If you did not make it, don't be discouraged! Start working right now with someone who has Color Guard experience and you will be able to earn your spot as a part of this wonderful organization next year.

I look forward to an exciting year with one of the largest and most talent groups of Color Guard girls the Aggie Bands has had! Because we had such a large group of girls stick with Color Guard, we will require three captains. Our captains will work to ensure that you have a fulfilling, positive experience.

GoodSearch.com Fundraiser!

Here is a fundraiser in which we can all participate! We all use the internet, and most of us use search engines to find the information we need. Many probably even use Yahoo! Search to find their information quickly.

Through GoodSearch.com, you can use the massive search database compiled by Yahoo! while making money for the Aggie Bands. Make sure Hamilton Aggie Bands (with the letter "s") is in the box under "Who do you GoodSearch for?" If Hamilton Aggie Bands (Hamilton, AL) doesn't come up, scroll through the list and you should be able to find it.

Be sure to tell your friends and family about this wonderful fundraiser. It requires very little effort (effort you would be spending directly through Yahoo!) and it helps us raise $0.01 per search. See if your boss will let you change the default search engine on the computers in your organization, especially if users are already searching with Yahoo! Install the GoodSearch toolbar on your computer so you will remember to use it for searching. If 250 people averaged just 8 searches per day, the Aggie Bands would raise $7,300 in a year! Please visit GoodSearch.com today and get started with helping the Aggie Bands!

One more thing: don't try to "trick" the search engine into giving the Aggie Bands more money. Fraudulent searches will result in the Aggie Bands being removed from the listed charities at GoodSearch.

Ads for the Aggie Band

Several businesses and politicians have been contacted with requests to purchase advertisements that are to be placed on products such as megaphones used for popcorn, car flags, and similar items.

The Aggie Bands did give permission to a company to sell these advertisements on its behalf. These products are paid for completely by the advertisements and we receive the products for free. We can then sell the products at football games from the concession stands.

The solicitor often says that he or she is working with Nathan Garner. Please be assured that Mr. Garner has not provided this company with any contact information or any company names. They get this information from the internet, telephone directories, and other publicly available information, and they decide who to solicit for ads.

This fund raising activity keeps our students and parents from having to do the legwork required to sell advertisements, and it prevents us from facing a loss in fundraising. We understand if you do not trust conducting business over the telephone from strangers, so it may be possible to ask for a bill through the mail from this company if you are interested in supporting us in this way.

The Aggie Bands have had an incredible fundraising drive this year, and we greatly thank everyone--students, parents, businesses, and members of the community--who have offered us support in this area.
