Band Boosters Band Boosters

We have an excellent group of Band Boosters--a group that is fully committed to serving the needs of the Band in all areas--and we want all parents to be actively involved in it. The Band Boosters is not solely for the purpose of raising funds, although that is a large part of it. They also publicize the Band and increase interest in the Band's activities across the community. All students in the Hamilton Aggie Bands (Grades 6-12) benefit from the work the Boosters put in.

Over the course of the next week, you will be contacted about working at a concession stand (for both Varsity Football Games and Alabama Games), and I encourage you to help out. Visual Ensemble members must have two positions in the concessions stands filled at Varsity games (that means two adults working one time or one adult working two times on behalf of said member) and at Bama games (that means one adult and the Visual Ensemble member working one time).

Halftime 2008 Sneak Preview!

The Aggie Band will be providing a sneak preview of the 2008-2009 Halftime show on Friday, August 1st at 5:30 p.m. If you're interested in seeing the fruits of your students' labor, or if you're simply a supporter who is curious about the plans for Halftime this year, come out and see what we have in store for the audience. Parents and band students are invited to stay afterward for a free cookout to celebrate the hard work our band members have put in during Band Camp.

High School Band Have a GREAT Summer

All students should have received their show music, handbooks, and summer preparations letter at graduation. If you have not received any or all of these materials, you need to come by the Band Room on one of the days I am there to pick them up. Remember, all students are expected to be familiar with the show music on the first day of music camp. Check the Community Forums section of this site for recordings.

The new handbook along with the calendar is available for download via the "Handbook" link on the left hand side of this page. You can also check the calendar via the "Calendar" link to the left or the "Upcoming Events" scroller to the right.

If you want to take lessons (FREE), get help with your show music (FREE), or come by and practice (FREE), you are strongly encouraged to do so.

Also, students who will be attending summer school, students who will be academically ineligible for band next year, and students who will be moving over the summer: YOU MUST let me know immediately. Certain fees may be added to your student account in the high school office if I expect you to participate in band next year only to find out--after copies have been made, drill has been ordered, shirts have been printed, etc.--that you are not going to do so.

Summary: If you signed up for band next year and something comes up so that you will not be in band you must let me know.

High School Band Advertisements

We have added a new "Advertisements" block to the AggieBands.com website. These ads, along with the GoodSearch fundraiser, will help raise funds for the website and the Aggie Bands in general. Please continue to visit this website and support the Aggie Bands by searching with GoodSearch and clicking on ads that interest you. Again, don't click ads just to try and raise money for the Band...this is against Google's Terms of Service and we could be prevented from showing advertising content through Google if they detect such activity.

2008-2009 Drum Major Results!

Congratulations Olivia Wilson!

And Congratulations Laken Childers!

Our Drum Major for 2008-2009 is Olivia Wilson. Our Assistant Drum Major for 2008-2009 is Laken Childers.

Thanks to all candidates who tried out! Everyone did a great job, and the judge had a very difficult decision to make. Comment sheets will be available in Mrs. Mixon's office Monday if you would like to see them. Other leadership positions are available and you have all filled leadership roles this year. Remember, leadership and title don't always coincide; you can be a strong leader without the title. Each of you is an asset to our organization, and I look forward to working with all of you in the various leadership capacities next year.

*2008-2009 Captains

I would like to thank our sponsors and the 2007-2008 Senior members of the Key Dancers for making tryouts a huge success. Particular thanks goes to 2007-2008 captains Morgan Lawler and Ashlyn Vinson for choreographing the tryout routine.

All of the candidates worked hard and did a wonderful job. Many of you had little experience and made incredible progress as the week progressed. If you did not make it, don't be discouraged! You're still eligible for participation in Color Guard based on your wonderful performance during Flag and Marching Basics week, and participation in a group that will require precision and counting will help better prepare you for next year's tryouts!

I would like to thank our instructor and the 2007-2008 Senior members of the Color Guard for making tryouts a huge success. All of the candidates worked hard and did a wonderful job. If you did not make it, don't be discouraged! Start working right now with someone who has Color Guard experience and you will be able to earn your spot as a part of this wonderful organization next year.

I look forward to an exciting year with one of the largest and most talent groups of Color Guard girls the Aggie Bands has had! Because we had such a large group of girls stick with Color Guard, we will require three captains. Our captains will work to ensure that you have a fulfilling, positive experience.

Congratulations to all members of the High School Band for receiving a rating of I-I-I at District Band Assessment and for being recommended to attend State. This is an enormous accomplishment, and all of the credit goes to the hard work put in by the students and student leaders. You are all a truly special group of people and you should be proud of your achievement.
